Garara is the most traditional, elegant yet fashionable dress mostly worn by Muslim Women. It is a traditional garment worn primarily by Muslim women. It consists of a long or a short kurti, sometimes mid-thigh length tunic, a dupatta and a pair of wide-legged pants, ruched at the knee. This way they flare out spectacularly. The knee area is often elaborately embroidered in zari and zardozi work. Muslim Girls wear Garara specially on their weddings, parties or some other occasions. It is decorated with heavy embroidery, beads, zari, gota patti and zardozi which gives them a fascinating look. The style originated in the city of Lucknow during the era of the Nawabs during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
