The saree is usually worn over a petticoat, with a fitted upper garment commonly called a blouse. The blouse has short sleeves and usually cropped at the midriff. After one more turn around the waist, the loose end is draped over the shoulder. The loose end is called the pallu. It is draped diagonally in front of the torso.
