While the decade commenced with the simple seedha pallu & ulta pallu style, it was the perky Mumtaz style that turned heads. Fabrics ruling were mercerized cotton with georgette, chanderi, net, zari. During 80’s, Sarees were largely influencing the styles and gave birth to shear look sarees. Women were pompously adorning chiffon and georgette base plain sarees. Whereas polka dots and prints were seen heading ahead in mid 80′s. 90′s saw continuation of trends from 80′s. The sheer look sarees were still ruling the block.
